Ferndale receives proposals for municipal renovation

The city of Ferndale's Municipal Building Renovation and Expansion project has taken a significant step forward now that proposals for the development are in.

Four proposals were received at the end of November and will be reviewed by officials from the city and Plante Moran CRESA (the project manager) over the next 90 days before making a decision.

The project includes building a new facility for the District Court and renovating the City Hall and Police Station in downtown Ferndale. Proposals came from Redstone Architects and Walbridge Aldinger, Wilkie & Zanley and Micco Construction, French Associates & Neumann/Smith and The Daily Company and CDPA and JSVIG Construction. Costs ranged between $6.8 million and $8.4 million.

Plante Moran will make a recommendation to the Ferndale City Council in February. Meanwhile, city officials will explore financing options for the project, which has been 1.5 years in the making so far.
