Leadership from the city of Wyandotte will hold a planning session at 7 p.m. March 27 in the city hall to determine a development strategy for a couple of important downtown properties, such as the old Wyandotte Theater.
Those properties include the waterfront property between Oak and Elm Street, the Bank One building (now Chase Bank) at Biddle and Eureka, the former Wyandotte Theater property, the Department of Municipal Service building and the city hall building.
The City Council and DDA approved spending $802,600 to purchase the theater earlier this year. The deal is pending approval from the theater's current owner. The city is deciding which developer will head up the project and what will happen to the theater. All options on future use, such as turning it into a six-screen theater or bulldozing it, are still on the table.
