Downtown Northville's newest theater, Tipping Point Theatre, is getting ready to spill over into its audiences before the end of the summer.
The bulk of the construction work on the theater is expected to wrap up in time for the first rehearsal on July 24. The theater will officially open for its first show, “Don’t Dress for Dinner”, on Aug. 25.
The new live-performance theater is being built in a remodeled light-industrial building at the corner of Cady and Griswold streets. The building had been used as a demonstration site for car wash equipment before becoming vacant in recent years.
The theater has 140 seats and will host live theater performances, similar to the Purple Rose Theatre in Chelsea. The theater will hire professional actors and perform a variety of plays, ranging from drama to comedies to classics to new productions. Plays will be performed on Thursday through Sunday and each production will last seven weeks.
