Downtown Pontiac plans to welcome North Woodward Edge development

Renovation. It has been the linchpin in downtown Pontiac's ability to attract investment. Up until now, the crush of new clubs, restaurants, offices and scattered residences have been carved out of the city's large stock of historic downtown buildings. But the North Woodward Edge development could change all of that.

Pontiac-based Fredericks Corp. is negotiating with the city to build a number of new mixed-use buildings inside the Woodward Avenue Loop (where it begins and ends)called North Woodward Edge. They are looking to develop between 32 to 96 condos with thousands of square feet of commercial space, worth at least $40 million.

The project would develop in three phases and would represent the first new construction in downtown Pontiac in many years. City officials hope to sign a development agreement with Fredericks by December.
