Work on the first phase of Labadie Park development in Wyandotte is moving forward with its first units complete and ready for sale.
The developers have finished building the infrastructure, model units and a second strip of five row houses. Ann Arbor-based Steppingstone Properties is behind the $16-million project, which will build 89 homes on the city’s north side.
The project is being built as a traditional urban neighborhood with 23 detached single-family homes, 29 townhouses and 37 stacked terrace units. The homes are priced between the mid $100,000 and $400,000. Prices average in the mid $200,000.
The development is being built on St. Johns, Labadie and Bennett streets. It is being built so it will seamlessly weave into the surrounding neighborhoods. Labadie Park is occupying a longtime industrial site that had at one time been used for a toy factory. It had been abandoned, bought by the city, cleaned, made ready for residential use and sold to Steppingstone.
