Aaron
Alston is the CEO of Cadre Systems
and a co-owner of Candor Marketing.
Passionate about Detroit development, he's a longtime board member
with CreateDetroit and is a co-managing member of Vinton Building, LLC.
If
you spend a few moments talking with Aaron it becomes quickly
apparent that he's very interested is health and well-being. It comes
as no surprise to then learn he typically kicks off a night out with
a trip to the Birmingham YMCA for "a good workout to start off
the evening".
For
post-workout socializing and cocktails he heads to Chen Chow Brasserie,
a stylish Asian Fusion restaurant and lounge. Not only is the bar
"amazing', but they also have a solid sake selection and
signature cocktails.
For
dinner he singles out Sy Thai Café,
a small Thai restaurant that serves generous portions, as the best
Thai around. Streetside Seafood,
an intimate neighborhood favorite, for the buffalo shrimp. And the
hip bistro and martini lounge, 220,
for the "melt-in-your-mouth file mignon".
When
comfort food is on the agenda Aaron chooses Peabody's,
a rustic, wood paneled restaurant just a little outside of the
downtown hustle and bustle. He likes the upscale American fare and
the cozy atmosphere.
For
dancing, he recommends the urban chic lounge, The Corner
bar, located inside The Townsend Hotel. For live music, Edison's,
located downstairs from 220,
books some great bands and DJs.
In
the summer Aaron enjoys evenings outdoors with live entertainment and
movie screenings at Shain Park. Followed by a visit to Kilwin's
Chocolates for their ice cream and other desserts. Downtown
Birmingham's 12-screen movie theatre, the Palladium 12
is a favorite of his all-year-round for their dinner-and-a-movie
evenings.
For
shopping, Aaron visits local wine shop, Simply Wine.
He appreciates their extensive wine selection at reasonable prices.
And Papa Joe's Gourmet Market
for specialty groceries, prepared foods and the "beautiful and
tasty desserts."
