HSO presents “Season’s Greetings” holiday pops concert

Helen Welch, an internationally acclaimed vocalist, entertainer, producer and band-leader, is returning to Holland for a holiday performance.

She will take the stage with Holland Symphony Orchestra’s annual Holiday Concert: “Home for the Holidays.”

The HSO will perform the lively, pops concert at Hope College’s Dimnent Chapel (12th Street and College Avenue) twice — at 3:30 and 7 p.m. — on Saturday,  Dec. 11.

Conducting the concert will be Music Director and HSO Conductor Johannes Müller Stosch. The performance will feature a variety of seasonal light classics, traditional carols, and holiday pops. There will be a medley of carols arranged by the Canadian Brass, well-known selections from Tchaikovsky’s ballet The Nutcracker and Leroy Anderson’s classic “Sleigh Ride.”

Welch will delight audiences with seasonal favorites, “I’ll Be Home For Christmas,” “Walkin’ in a Winter  Wonderland,” and “Chestnuts Roasting on an Open Fire,” as well as some of her own holiday songs. The orchestra will invite audience participation in a singalong of classic carols.

Tickets are available in advance both online at hollandsymphony.org, in person at the symphony office in the Midtown Center (96 W. 15th St. Suite 201), and by calling the  Symphony (616-796-6780).
