Zeeland Board of Public Works is introducing a new free customer portal, MyMeter, so consumers can easily track their energy and water usage.
The new technology will also make it simpler to pay bills and get notifications for unusual energy and water use.
“We’re pleased to provide more technology to our service area and consider this a step closer to empowering our customers with meaningful usage information that can be leveraged to control utility bills,” says Andrew Boatright, general manager of Zeeland BPW.
With daily, weekly, and monthly usage reports, MyMeter gives customers insight into how much electricity and water they are using.
By setting usage notifications via text message or email, customers can even track usage while they are out of town.
Those who have tried the new technology are happy with the features, according to Boatright.
“Customers who have already registered their MyMeter portal love this feature. Not only can they monitor energy when they are home, but can also keep tabs on how much energy is used while they are away and be notified of unusual energy activity,” he says.
As part of its investment in MyMeter, Zeeland BPW is also launching a multi-year project to upgrade all meters in their service area to digital advanced meters.
“It’s an exciting time here at ZBPW,” Boatwright says. “As meters begin to be replaced, customers will notice even more features available to them through their MyMeter portal.”
MyMeter is now available to all Zeeland BPW customers. Electric meter replacements to new digital advanced meters have already begun and are anticipated to be substantially deployed by the end of 2022. Water advanced metering deployment will begin in 2022 and is targeted for completion by 2025.
