Muskegon firm adds twist to ‘Giving Tuesday’ with marketing marathon

Giving Tuesday has become known as a day of generosity, and Muskegon-based marketing firm Revel is putting a twist on the day by hosting a 24-hour marketing marathon, donating its services to one lucky Michigan company.

Called “Good Tuesday,” the event will put Revel’s 13 team members in its downtown Muskegon office from 9 a.m. Tuesday, Nov. 28, through 9 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 29. In that time, they will execute a comprehensive marketing plan free of charge for a company or organization that is focused on improving the place where they do business.

This 24-hour marketing marathon is directly inspired by Giving Tuesday, a global philanthropic movement that takes place on the Tuesday following Thanksgiving. It encourages people to shift their focus from Black Friday and purchasing to charitable giving and acts of kindness. The day promotes coming together to support various causes and nonprofit organizations.

Any Michigan-based company can and is encouraged to apply, with priority given to nonprofits and for-profit businesses promoting philanthropic causes. Organizations can
nominate themselves, or be nominated by a community member or a Revel team member.

Revel — founded 20 years ago on the principle of doing good work for its people, customers, and community — is using “Good Tuesday” as its way of bringing the mantra to life. On that day, Revel will donate 24 hours of service to a nonprofit or for-profit company in Michigan that is invested in initiatives that have a positive impact. In a single day, the whirlwind campaign will go from concept to completion and later be revealed to the public.

“Our mission is to make a difference in the lives of our team, the clients we serve, and the communities where we do business,” says Revel partner and CEO Jason Piasecki. “This initiative encompasses all three of those aspects. We're excited to give a worthy organization the kind of marketing it deserves. Projects like this are why I get out of bed to go to work every day.”

Start to finish in 24 hours

Revel and potential campaign partners will execute the start-to-finish marketing campaign within that 24 hours. Upon conclusion, Revel will present the campaign to the client at its Muskegon office.

Revel team members are eager to share the experience as they take on a challenge unlike any they’ve done before. From strategic planning to content development to design and implementation, each member’s unique skills will be utilized to create a campaign that encompasses the fresh perspective and creative marketing solutions that Revel is known for and eager to share.

“I’m thrilled about Revel’s new annual Good Tuesday initiative. It’s going to be a challenge to accomplish a full marketing campaign in 24 hours, but I’m confident in our team,” says Danielle Webb, Revel’s chief operating officer. “It’s always nice to help our community grow, but I have a feeling our team will grow from this experience just as much. We’re all looking forward to creating a lasting tradition we can be a part of for years to come.”

The entire race-against-the-clock experience will be documented on social media, so the public is encouraged to follow along on Revel’s social pages: Facebook, Instagram, and LinkedIn. Followers will be able to join in on the excitement and get a behind-the-scenes look at Revel’s marketing process with a twist.
