The Holland Chorale will take the stage with the Grammy Award-winning vocal ensemble Chanticleer to debut new music.
The Holland Chorale will open the program, and Chanticleer will then take the stage. Later in the program, both the Holland Chorale and Chanticleer will sing a combined piece that was recently commissioned for them and never performed before.
“We are extremely excited for this opportunity to partner with Chanticleer in this upcoming concert,” says Holland Chorale's artistic director, Dr. Patrick Coyle, of both producing the concert and performing with Chanticleer.
"It is extremely rare that other performers share the stage with this remarkable ensemble, and we are honored to be chosen for this opportunity."
The concert will take place at 7 p.m. on Oct. 27 at the Jack H. Miller Center for Musical Arts, on the Hope College campus, at 221 Columbia Ave., Holland.
World premiere
The Holland Chorale will open the performance for the world-renowned Chanticleer, and will join the ensemble for the world premiere of "I Am a Rock." The new work is composed by Majel Connery specifically for Chanticleer and Mixed Chorus.
Chanticleer's program is titled “Music of a Silent World,” and includes a wide array of composers and styles, including music by Max Reger, Hoagy Carmichael, Stephen Sondheim, and Joni Mitchell.
Chanticleer's membership includes two West Michigan singers, Andrew Van Allsburg and Logan Shields, both of whom were high school choral scholars with The Holland Chorale.
