Boven Birth Center at Holland Hospital has earned the Platinum designation for maternal care from the Michigan Alliance for Innovation on Maternal Health.
Holland Hospital’s
Boven Birth Center continues to be recognized for going above and beyond in delivering exceptional experiences for moms-to-be and their families. The team recently received the Platinum designation for maternal care from the
Michigan Alliance for Innovation on Maternal Health (MI AIM).
This is Boven’s third consecutive year earning the highest level awarded by the organization. Along with the medical aspects of MI AIM’s structured patient safety bundles, the program includes components to help recognize and address implicit bias and health inequities.
“This achievement reflects the collaborative effort among our birthing center staff and physicians to improve health outcomes,” says Nicole Huisman, director of Boven Birth Center. “Our team places an emphasis on education, including the use of simulation, to ensure readiness in responding to the unexpected. We are honored to have received this award as we strive to provide the highest quality of care to our families.”
Welcoming new physician
The award comes as Holland Hospital is welcoming the area’s newest OB/GYN physician. Dr. Rachael Fizer, DO, FACOOG, joined
Ob/Gyn Associates of Holland PC and the Boven Birth Center team this spring. Fizer is board certified and offers expert care in the areas of obstetrics, gynecology, and general health.
OB/GYN Associates of Holland PC is the area’s largest OB/GYN practice, with offices in Grand Haven, north and south Holland, and South Haven.
Fizer will be featured on an upcoming Healthy Life Talk on
Holland Hospital’s Facebook page, on Aug. 18 at 1 p.m., when she presents “The Lowdown on Hypertension in Pregnancy.”
