BOLD Furniture opens Chicago showroom, wins Best of NeoCon

BOLD Furniture is raising its profile with a year-round showroom at THE MART in Chicago that debuted for this year’s NeoCon, the most important event of the year for the commercial interior design industry.

Additionally, the Muskegon furniture maker this week celebrated winning a 2023 Best of NeoCon Award for its retreeve Tables Collection, which was honored in the category of sustainability.

"Environmental stewardship is at the core of BOLD Furniture's ethos, and the retreeve Tables Collection is a testament to this commitment," says Todd Folkert, CEO of BOLD Furniture. "We're proud to  introduce a collection that not only champions sustainability but also enhances the aesthetic and functionality of workspaces."

Recovered materials

The collection showcases butcher block surfaces crafted from recycled solid wood, MDF, particle board, and plywood, all retrieved from BOLD Furniture's in-house manufacturing scraps.

The steel bases of the retreeve tables employ a recycled powder coat paint, which is sourced within a 25-mile radius of BOLD Furniture’s manufacturing facility. This significantly decreases waste associated with conventional powder coat processes. Additionally, the Greengard-certified wood finishes used in the collection ensure low chemical emissions, contributing to healthier and more eco-friendly workspaces.

Each piece in the collection includes a pop of color from an additional material inlay,  currently available in Corian, Glacier White and Verdant Green.

"The retreeve Tables Collection highlights our commitment to crafting furniture that is as stylish as it is sustainable," Folkert added. "These tables are not just functional pieces but also statement pieces that bring together environmental responsibility, craftsmanship and sophistication."

Established in 1999, BOLD Furniture has grown from its initial offering of quirky, functional pieces for active teamwork and individual offices to providing comprehensive furniture solutions for various sectors. In 2006, BOLD Furniture joined forces with Competitive Edge.

Showroom is symbol of growth

The company’s 2,800-square-foot showroom at 222 Merchandise Mart Plaza, suite 1078, is part of its brand expansion. After being primarily a private label original equipment manufacturer since its inception in 1999, it is also growing its own product lines and sales and distribution network nationwide.

"We've built a strong reputation as a trusted OEM,” Folkert says. “We will continue to provide these valuable OEM services to our partners while also expanding our own branded product lines. This allows us to maintain our commitment to our OEM partners while simultaneously growing the BOLD Furniture brand.”

The company's new showroom in THE MART has a central role in this evolution. It showcases the breadth and depth of BOLD Furniture's manufacturing capabilities, featuring vignettes of each product collection, a design center for collaboration, and lounge and café areas.

"Our new showroom signifies more than a physical presence in Chicago; it's a functional hub for innovation and collaboration," Folkert says. "We want our customers to experience firsthand the quality, flexibility, and creativity that BOLD Furniture brings to every project.”

Recent custom projects for the cannabis industry exemplify BOLD Furniture’s ability to deliver tailored solutions across a range of market segments.

"Our commitment to serving our existing customers remains unwavering," Folkert says. "With the expansion of our brand and introduction of more of our own product lines, we'll be able to provide a broader range of standard and customized options, making it easier for our clients to create the spaces they envision."
