Society for Creative Anachronism goes to Hastings for ‘battle’

What better place to celebrate 1066, the era of the Great Battle of Hastings, than in Hastings?

The Battle Creek Enquirer reports the Society for Creative Anachronism recently came together at Historic Charlton Park for the event. Some were caring for their horses while others cooked over campfires, made jewelry or leather goods, practiced with the long bow or donned heavy armor and fought each other.

The group is sometimes compared to Civil War re-enactors, according to Charles Stefanich of Holland, a spokesman, but he said they focus more on recreating the arts and skills of the era rather than the battles.
