Hillsdale has a small town, frozen-in-time sort of charm. A very safe and exceptionally neighborly city, Hillsdale can also lay claim to Hillsdale College, a free market entrepreneurial-loving college that is the only college in America that doesn’t accept federal funds in any way and thus has no constraints from the government. The Hillsdale community is a one that is very dedicated to freedom of commerce and creativity, with the college as the hub for that. The recently-restored Mrs. Stark’s Park is also a cultural center for the community, featuring scenic ponds, fountains and bridges in an expansive garden setting that also hosts a free summer concert series. The Slayton Arboretum is another beautifully-landscaped botanical garden located adjacent to the Hillsdale College campus.
