An estimated 75 employers will return to conduct one-on-one job interviews and promote job opportunities at the annual Washtenaw County Hiring Blitz.
Organized by Michigan Works! Southeast, the free event runs from 9 a.m. to noon May 9 at Michigan Works! Southeast's Washtenaw Service Center, 304 Harriet St. in Ypsilanti.
"It’s open for anyone who is looking for employment opportunities, whether they are seeking a first job or a career change," says Nicole Bell, communications manager for Michigan Works! Southeast.
Kroger, the United States Census Bureau, Saint Joseph Mercy Health System, and McDonald’s are among the participating employers this year. Many will be conducting job interviews at the event.
Bell says military veterans will be given priority of service. She advises all participants to come prepared with copies of their resumes and dressed for interviews.
"It’s a very dynamic, engaging, and high-energy event. We have seen people receive job offers right there on the spot," she says.
She says last year, over half the event's attendees were offered employment as a result of the event.
"We’re truly excited to offer an opportunity that can possibly connect job seekers to a better future," Bell says.
