THIS EVENT IS CANCELED DUE TO ILLNESSOUR APOLOGIES FOR ANY INCONVENIENCEThe 1.0 notion of networking involved formal get-togethers where business birds of a feather gathered together... often in a club or over cocktails at some sponsored event.
Things are a bit more casual in the new economy, less pressured and contrived.
In describing himself Ed Vielmetti says, "I have talent for identifying a need, forming a group to meet it, finding leaders and giving them the tools they need to organize online and off."
And as anyone who knows Ed (and there are many in Ann Arbor), there are few locals who do a better job of linking people, interests, ideas, and events.
Networking is not only an opportunity to meet like minded individuals, it's an attempt to build community. It's hyper local in focus and, increasingly, more social in nature.
For Ed, networking is a bit of an art.
The host of the long-running and very successful
A2B3 lunch table (Ann Arbor Bi Bim Bop), Ed views his weekly event as not only a place for freelancers, techies, entrepreneurs, and lovers of Korean bowl meals, but also an economic indicator (read more about this

So how do you build a successful networking event or social meet up? How do you navigate the ones that already exist?
