$400,000 Investment Boosts Williamston-Based Medical Company

A $400,000 21st Century Jobs Fund grant will help Williamston-based AI Medical Devices Inc. grow.

"This should really help our company," said Chief Executive Officer John Schwartz, who founded the company about 2 1/2 years ago with his brother, Richard.

AI Medical makes intubation and airway-related equipment. It has five employees, but the brothers have plan to expand the company with its new financing. Seven new jobs are projected as a result of new financing, said the Michigan Economic Development Corp., which oversees the jobs fund program.

"We're right on that edge to grow," John Schwartz said. "Having the money to do it is the thing that makes the difference."

The company's key product is a device that makes it easier to insert a tube into a patient's airway by using a visual scope.
