$500,000 Federal Appropriation Helps Mason Move $8 Million Water Project

A $500,000 federal earmark will help the City of Mason construct its $8 million water treatment plant.

The city has been awarded that amount through the Federal 2009 Fiscal Year Omnibus Appropriation.

"I'm sure everyone here is glad to see half a million come back from the feds," Mayor Leon Clark said at the March 16 city council meeting.

Last year, city officials talked with legislators, doing what City Administrator Marty Colburn called "a lot of walking, a lot of talking and a lot of knocking" to press its case for money to help fund its new $8 million water-treatment plant.
