Emergent BioSolutions is quietly fueling the New Economy by creating local jobs, being recognized on
Forbes Best Small Companies list and providing the government with millions of dollars worth of its primary product.

"They're kind of a nugget that's tucked away, so the average person in Lansing doesn't even know they're here," said David Hollister, president and CEO of
Prima Civitas Foundation, a Lansing-based nonprofit.
Emergent continues to grow in Lansing as its 400 employees work to ramp up production of the only federally approved anthrax vaccine and start developing the next-generation vaccine.
