Niowave, Inc. announced that
Dr. Terry L. Grimm has been awarded the 2010
Institute of Electrical and Electronic Engineers (IEEE) Entrepreneurship Award for Applied Superconductivity. Dr. Grimm accepted the award on August 2. The founder of Lansing-based Niowave, Inc., Grimm accepted the award last month at the
Applied Superconductivity Conference in Washington, D.C.
He was presented with the international award for the founding of Niowave and its commercialization of superconducting linear accelerators.
"Receiving this award is an acknowledgment from the science community that Niowave is at the forefront of industrialization of this technology worldwide,” says Jerry Hollister, chief operating officer at Niowave.
“Commercialization of this technology is currently in its infancy, so the growth potential is tremendous. Like the establishment of
FRIB at MSU, this recognition is another step in establishing mid-Michigan as a worldwide center for superconducting particle accelerator research and manufacturing."
