The
Michigan Council for Arts and Cultural Affairs (MCACA) 2010 Regional Regranting Minigrant Program has awarded ten local non-profit organizations a total of $25,900 for high-quality artistic or cultural programs.
"Keeping arts and culture accessible and locally-produced is important, especially for building community and increasing education or awareness right here in our hometown," says Katie Robiadek, program manager for the
Arts Council of Greater Lansing.
The Arts Council of Greater Lansing is the regional administrator of this state-wide program, and oversees funding for arts and culture projects in Ingham, Eaton, Clinton and Shiawasee counties.
Leslie Donaldson, executive director for the Arts Council, believes this type of funding can have a great impact on the community.
"It is through this access that we are able to spark creativity and innovation, break barriers and cross cultures, and engage audiences of all ages in developing the tools necessary for critical thinking and creativity," says Donaldson.
Some of the organizations benefiting from the funding include the
Old Town Business and Art Development Association,
Greater Lansing Gay Men's Chorus and
Owosso Community Players.
