A Lansing-based jobs contractor recently landed a $26 million deal with
the
U.S. Army to continue business at
the Army’s Rock Island, Ill. plant, extending the contract for three more years and securing more
than 150 jobs.
Lansing's
HRU Technical Resources provides the Army with manufacturing support on anything from armoring kits for vehicles to portable laboratories. The
Rock Island Arsenal
is a massive facility in Illinois that does metal fabrication,
machining, heat plating and electro-plating, says HRU new business
development manager Todd Briggs.

“We are the Army’s job shop. Anything they need on a quick turnaround,
we help them out,” says Briggs, who has worked at HRU for 22 years.
While the work is in Illinois, Briggs says that money will help a
Lansing-based company increase profitability and add more jobs in
Michigan.
HRU calls itself a “contingent staffing firm,” contracting with various
sectors in Information Technology and engineering to provide workers.
In Michigan, HRU has provided jobs in the automotive, defense and
pharmaceuticals industries as well.
HRU is headquartered in Lansing but places workers nationwide. This year is the business’s 30th anniversary.
