In an effort to raise money to finish production of his third feature-length film, Lansing-native
Michael McCallum, his co-stars and soundtrack artists will be at
Brannigan Brothers in Downtown Lansing on Sunday, June 27 for a fundraiser.
The crew will show about 10 minutes of
Lucky and
interact with the audience. Local musicians
Sam Corbin and
Wes Tkaczyk, who did the music for
Lucky, will perform and Brannigans will serve free food.
“We are hoping to create a buzz between now and the release of the film in early 2011,” says McCallum.
Generally McCallum and crew will hold two fundraisers for their films. One is to raise money for finishing the editing and production, and the other is just before the release to pay for making DVDs and other merchandise.
McCallum hopes to raise at least a couple thousand dollars to complement the money he spends out of his own pocket to finish the film. He has a day job waiting tables at Falsetta’s Casa Nova Restaurant, 138 South Waverly Rd.
McCallum heads
Rebel Pictures, a local independent film company that has produced three feature films and even more short films. Capital Gains
featured McCallum in 2008 after he finished his first feature film,
Fairview Street, a black-and-white noir drama largely filmed in Lansing.
