Cooley Law School Honored For $46,000 Investment in Local Children's Programs

Thomas M. Cooley Law School has been honored by the Michigan Recreation and Park Association (MRPA) for its ongoing support of public recreation and park programs in the community. The MRPA presented Cooley with its 2009 Community Service Award for its annual Cooley for Kids Day, a program that sends hundred of kids to see the Lansing Lugnuts minor league baseball team play at the Cooley Law School Stadium in Lansing.

Cooley has invested $46,000 in Lansing Parks and Recreation since the inception of Cooley for Kids Day in 2001.

"The entire Cooley family, which includes, alumni, faculty, staff, and students, all step up to the plate each summer to treat approximately 500 Parks and Recreation children to lunch and a minor league baseball game," says Cooley President and Dean, Don LeDuc.

"It's especially rewarding seeing the Parks and Recreation children really excited about the game and all the activities that the Cooley Student Bar Association organize for Cooley for Kids” adds Terry Carella, Cooley's director of communications.

Cooley for Kids is an ongoing initiative, and this year's program is scheduled for Monday, July 26.
