Want proof that
Michigan State University is fueling the entrepreneurial spirit? Another MSU grad, Avish Bhama, and fellow Michigan native, Mathew Kellogg, have launched
CampusOn.com in East Lansing.
CampusOn offers college students deals on things to enjoy around campus, including restaurants, bars, book stores, social events or anything else college students might be interested in.
“We both thought our college experiences were really special, and we
wanted to find a way to help other college students,” says Bhama. “We
started studying this social commerce space and we thought about
bringing this collective-buying platform to college campuses and campus
communities.”
“Business owners give us great deals because we are able to send them valuable new customers, and they get to pick the minimum number of new customers that must be reached in order for the deal to be valid—this is known as the tipping point. So once this minimum number of people is met, the deal will be tipped and the special offer will become valid,” says Bhama. That’s how CampusOn able to offer such great deals.
Although CampusOn is based in Silicon Valley, the founders love Michigan and have chosen MSU as their launch location. “We’re catering to MSU students right now and creating a more affordable campus life around MSU,” adds Bhama.
