Latin for “for the public good,”
Pro Bono Publico! is a 24-hour blitz of marketing services by East Lansing-based
Publicom to be offered June 24 and 25 to local charities who may not otherwise be able to afford them.
“We want to give back not just in this community, but outside this community as well,” says Publicom's president, Lisa O’Connor. “There is a lot of talent in this area
and we want these charities to have access to that.”
Three of the five charities are in the greater Capital region, including
Tomorrow’s Child/Michigan SIDS,
His Healing Hands Health Center (Lansing) and
Youthful Giving (Holt).
Services will “run the gamut,” says O’Connor, including brochures, logos, letterheads, website updates and possible a full-length radio ad. About 10 local businesses are partnering with Publicom to reach their goals. There are more than 20 people involved in the whole project, she says.
A similar pro bono campaign by Publicom was last held in 2006, but this is the first year of Pro Bono Publico! O’Connor says that, to date, about 300 works hours have been spent getting ready, interviewing clients and getting creative people lined up.
“This is definitely a major effort,” she says.
