The
WKAR-produced "
BackStage Pass" series was selected for national distribution by the
National Educational Telecommunications Association (NETA), one of numerous content providers for public television programming.

“BackStage Pass" is recorded in WKAR's East Lansing studio, showcasing some of Michigan's best musicians in a variety of musical genres. The series feature performances, followed by behind-the-scenes conversations with musicians talking passionately about their craft.
Tim Zeko, the series' executive producer, is very excited. " I have had a desire to produce a local music series focusing on Michigan artists for many years," he says.
That dream came to fruition when WKAR hired a new program manager, Kent Wieland, who shares Zeko's passion for Michigan music.
"I believe any time WKAR can bring a national focus on the rich cultural assets of the Greater Lansing community, we all win," says Jeanie Croope, promotion director at WKAR.
"When people see the WKAR production credit on the series, no matter where they live, they'll know it came from WKAR,
Michigan State University and East Lansing," she adds.
