Production and Staging Business Acquires Two Companies, Expands Services

With locations in Lansing, Orlando and Las Vegas, SGA Production Staging is known for its creative seating arrangements and installations—think the BasketBowl at Ford Field, or the Cold War hockey game at Michigan State University (MSU).  Its seats were at the SuperBowl, WrestleMania and the opening ceremonies for the Salt Lake City Winter Olympics.

Now it's expanding its event offerings with the acquisition of Orlando-based ASI Production Services, which provides event drapery and staging, and All Staging Unlimited, which provides scenery and sets.

The company is now called SGASi Production Services and is led by President Tom Hilton.

“About one minute after hitting send on the e-mail announcement of the acquisition, phones started ringing off the hooks across our offices," says Benjamin Slayter of the new SGASi. "The outpouring of support was outstanding and plans to actually get stuff done were quickly pushed off by the need to talk to clients and friends from across the industry.”

The merger adds new warehouses in Atlanta and South Florida.

“SGA has done work at Cobo Hall in Detroit for the North American International Auto Show (NAIAS) and provided elevated seating to the casinos in Detroit," Slayter says. "Our installations range across North America. In summer 2006, we installed a temporary outdoor concert venue for the Soaring Eagle Casino & Resort for over 11,000."

The expanded company, SGASi, donated elevated VIP risers for Old Town’s JazzFest and plans to do the same for the BluesFest.
