The new, 4,000-square foot offices of the
Prima Civitas Foundation are bright, airy and modern. This is unsurprising, as their new East Lansing location brings them into the
same building as The Technology Innovation Center and MSU Business-CONNECT, but the sleek, modern new digs are also a reflection of the organization’s new leadership and focus.
“We don’t do anything that others don’t already do, but we try to do it faster,” says Steve Webster, PCF’s new CEO. “We have the capacity to solve greater problems across political jurisdictions, and we try to do it in a multi-faceted fashion.”
The range of those political jurisdictions is the major change that will make up “PCF 2.0.” For five years, the community and economic development non-profit assisted with collaborative problem solving primarily in the mid-Michigan region. Now, they’re looking at painting on a larger canvas.
“It will be the same concept but we’ll be going go statewide,” says Vice President & Chief Operating Officer for PCF, Steven Bennett. In fact, statewide could be just the beginning.
“These are relatively arbitrary boundaries,” Bennett says. “Just because Michigan ends and Ohio starts, doesn’t mean the problem has stopped.”
In order to reach further and prepare for future expansion, the 12-member PCF staff moved from their original 2,000-square foot, multi-level location on Kalamazoo Street to their current location of double the size.
With the new space, PCF plans for continued growth. “What’s next is faster, more powerful solutions and more partners,” says Webster.
