The Urban Land Institute Detroit District Council wants to bring investment to and focus on placemaking for Michigan cities, with a particular emphasis on downtowns and walkability. This March, they’ll bring this mission to
Lansing with the 2nd Annual Public/Private Partnership (P3) Conference.
"We're really excited," says Doug Brown, Director of Development with
ASTI Environmental and volunteer Membership Committee Chair with ULI, "and the locals have really done back flips to be helpful."
The P3 Conference will feature local economic development movers and shakers such as Ron Boji of the
Boji Group, Jim Cash of
Christman Capital Development Company, Pat Gillespie of
The Gillespie Group and Bob Trezise of
Lansing Economic Development Corp.
MEDC Vice President of Policy, Government Relations and Strategic Planning, Mark Morante, will be the P3 keynote speaker, discussing the new collaborative MEDC 2.0, emphasizing "economic gardening" in Michigan.
"We want to bring best case examples and make a statement in the Lansing market about how the ULI is a great tool in the economic development toolbox," says Brown.
The March 23 event is co-hosted by the Michigan Municipal League and sponsored by
Michigan State Housing and Development Authority, ASTI Environmental,
MSU School of Planning, Design and Construction,
Norr LLC, the
Society of Environmentally Responsible Facilities (SERF) and
Wolverine Development Corporation.
Those interested in attending P3 may learn more about the event and register at the
P3 Conference webpage.
