Lansing Habitat for Humanity teams with Little Caesars to fuel volunteers

Habitat for Humanity Lansing is building three green, geothermal, energy star homes on Wayne Street in Lansing. Each home will be unique and have between three and five bedrooms, a nice-sized front porch and a natural setting for the children to play in. Once the homes are complete, the homebuyers will take possession and pay an interest-free mortgage to Habitat for Humanity Lansing.

"Our homes are built in partnership with hard-working homebuyers who will put in 300-500 hours of sweat equity on their own home and other Habitat projects. We provide a hand up, not a hand out to individuals that are living in poverty housing and offer a chance to own their own home, build equity and have a safe, decent, affordable place to live," says Dena Vatalaro, Development Director for Habitat Lansing.

The Lansing Little Caesars franchise, Oak Point Partners, is proud to be partnering with Habitat Lansing this summer by donating pizzas for the volunteer crews. Due to budget constraints, Habitat Lansing is not able to offer a lunch to the volunteers, so this partnership significantly improves the volunteer experience.

"We believe this gesture by Little Caesars will set an example for other local business owners to do what they can to help their local non-profits through in-kind donations. Habitat Lansing relies on area businesses to donate materials, services and products to continue the mission to eliminate substandard housing here in the greater Lansing area," says Vatalaro.
