To casual followers to technology news, cloud computing is the newest and hottest IT breakthrough in years. In fact, according to Lansing’s
Center for Business Innovation, the buzz word is really the only thing that’s new, as the companies previously offering the technology used to be referred to as “application service providers.”
“CBI has successfully been offering “cloud computing” services for over 14 years,” says Katie Martz, Marketing Coordinator for CBI. “So we have it down to a science.”
What has changed besides the name is the increased capabilities of cloud computing with the advent of fiber optic technology, and thanks to a new partnership with
Arialink, that increased capability is now available to Lansing-area businesses.
Arialink’s contribution is the fiber optic internet connection, allowing companies access to a limitless bandwidth and CBI’s high-level of data security.
“Together it empowers companies to be more efficient and successful,” says Martz. “It allows them to have a fast connection to their secure data – which allows them to work better.”
CBI hopes their increased capability will bring additional out-of-state business, as Michigan is an especially competitive location for such a partnership, according to Martz. Unlike many other US locations, the state is relatively protected from natural disaster, making data-loss protection even stronger.
