Red Ribbon Hall in Eaton Rapids is using a Michigan Interfaith Trust Fund grant worth $11,089 to update the prominent community center.
Red Ribbon Hall is an old temperance hall that was originally built to “keep people out of the saloons,” says Kim Byerly with the Eaton Rapids Historical Society Board.
The grant will help the Eaton Rapid Downtown Development Authority pay for an upgraded electrical system and handicap accessible restrooms. Byerly anticipates that the upgrades will increase the usability of the center.
“We’re hoping that it will turn into the same type of thing where we can bring in some drama and some musical performances,” she says.
