On Oct. 18, the Williamston community opened its arms to yet another downtown business.
Teresa and Jose Rodriguez have only lived in Michigan for two months, but they’ve already renovated a building and opened El Indio de Tijuana, an authentic Mexican restaurant.
The Rodriguezes moved to Williamston from California, where they owned and operated another Mexican restaurant.
“We thought this might be a good place for a business,”says Teresa, adding that her family moved to Williamston to be closer to her sister. “We thought, let’s introduce these people to good Mexican food.”
Everything on the El Indio de Tijuana menu is made from scratch, including the guacamole and hot sauce.
The 2,000 square foot restaurant has enough seats for 14 people. Teresa says she wants to add seats and expand the rear patio in the spring. El Indio de Tijuana is in the old Westside Pizzeria building at 122 W.Grand River.
“We love it here,” Teresa says of her family’s experience in Williamston. “We live two blocks away from the restaurant. We love the people. We love the area. We love everything about Michigan.”
