The Luton Training Center, an equestrian center specializing in different riding styles, is adding 20,000 square foot of barn space to its facility in Williamston.
The expansion is halfway finished and the owner, Lisa Luton-Hodges, expects the entire renovation to be complete by spring 2010. Luton Training Center moved from southeastern Michigan to Williamston six years ago when a southeastern Michigan airport expansion put the Luton Training Center in a flight path.
“We looked for about a year and we found Williamston was a hub to the horse community,” says Luton-Hodges. “It just seemed like a wonderful town. The schools are good and it seems like a growing town that’s on the verge of really expanding.”
The move also gave Luton-Hodges more space. The training center now sits on 30 acres as opposed to its original 16 acres.
The Luton Training Center shows horses all over the country. The company also cares for the horses and trains riders to become accomplished equestrians.
