For those familiar with the old-school barbershop feel of
Jude’s Barbershop, the experience is coming to the heart of the Capital in roughly a month’s time.
While
still in the renovation stages, Jude’s is set to open a new 1,250
square-foot space in the recently renovated
Hollister Building, 120 S. Washington Square.
The barbershop will share retail space with
Jimmy Johns and
Draper Eyewear.

“We want to be part of the
Downtown
(Lansing) resurgence,” says Wally Bulkowski, director of brokerage services with
Fusion Properties, Jude’s exclusive property manager. “It was a natural fit.”
Renovations
to the space, which has been vacant for more than five years, went all the way down to
the original flooring, “completely gutting” the property.
Bulkowski
says the new location will bring five to 10 more jobs.
The Downtown location becomes Jude’s nineteenth in Michigan. Their
major presence is in West Michigan around Grand Rapids, Kalamazoo and
Grand Haven. The Downtown Lansing location is the second Jude’s to open
in the Capital region. The other is on Saginaw Highway near the
Frandor Shopping Center.
Bulkowski says the presence of heavy foot traffic Downtown will be the key to that location’s success.
