InterContinental Hotels Group (IHG), one of the world's largest hotel groups, has committed to be a part of East Lansing’s $116 million City Center II development.
The Clark Construction Company will start working on the Hotel Indigo, which is a branded boutique hotel, later this year.
“Boutique hotels have become increasingly popular in urban markets across the country, from San Francisco to Chicago, New York and Los Angeles,” says East Lansing City Manager Theodore Staton. “It’s extremely exciting to learn of IHG’s commitment to the City Center II project.”
The proposed 115-room hotel is one of several businesses that has agreed to fill the 10-story, 250,000 square foot building. Grand Rapids-based upscale restaurant, Naya Bistro and Wine Bar, has also agreed to occupy the space.
"With Michigan State University nearby, visitors to the Hotel Indigo will enjoy an eclectic mix of restaurants, retail shops, art galleries and entertainment, which is exactly what we look for when growing our brand," says Jim Anhut with IHG. "On a personal note, I am a graduate of The School of Hospitality Business at MSU and couldn't be more excited to add this location to our portfolio."
