A 1,000 square foot former gas station in downtown Leslie, Michigan, is being renovated and turned into Leslie’s only downtown flower shop.
Blossoms Etc. will have its grand opening at its new 200 S. Main address in early September. The flower shop has been operating out of the J.C. Adams Funeral Home, but had to find a new space to accommodate its growth.
Once Blossoms moves to 200 S. Main, it will also sell soaps, gift baskets, gourmet teas and chocolate.
“I think this store will be a big player in the downtown,” says Blossoms manager Dawn Meyer. “Basically, with our gourmet coffee and tea — we will have those all the time — we’ll encourage people to even stop in and visit. We want it to be a destination place.”
The entire gas station will be renovated and remodeled. A stone planter will replace the old gas station pumps and the interior of the building will be renovated as well.
“We are thrilled to bring in a new business that is making an investment and renovating a currently empty building,” says Leslie’s city manager, Brian Reed. “The city and the DDA have worked hard to make our downtown attractive to businesses. It is perfect for the downtown and will create a lot of foot traffic and activity which is our goal in the downtown.”
