Dowding Industries’ $7.1 million, 34,300 square foot
addition is well on its way to producing wind turbine components.
Dowding Industries is expanding its Eaton Rapids facility
to accommodate Dowding Machining, which will focus on creating transmission
housings, component and platforms for wind turbines. The manufacturing company
announced the expansion last May.
Bill LeFevere, with the City of Eaton Rapids, says
Dowding is an important component in the area’s industrial park. Von Weise also
recently committed to expanding in Eaton Rapids’ industrial park.
The Dowding expansion is expected to create 200 jobs. The
Michigan Economic Development Corporation (MEDC) estimates that 158 spin off
jobs will be created as a result of the expansion.
The MEDC approved a more than $1.5 million state tax
credit over 10 years for the project.
