Delta Dental recently announced a planned $85 million expansion of its Okemos, Michigan office. The expansion will include renovation of Delta’s existing building, the addition of two new buildings and the addition of 150 jobs over the next 10 years.
“The best investment for us is staying right here in Michigan,” says Delta Dental Chief Executive Officer Thomas Fleszar.
With 6.2 million enrollees, Delta Dental is one of the largest dental plan administrators in the nation. Okemos hosts Delta’s headquarters, but the company also has offices in Ohio, Indiana and Tennessee.
Delta hopes to break ground on the expansion project in the spring of 2008. The company is working with architects and developers to make sure its new headquarters is Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) certified.
“We believe in Michigan,” Fleszar says about continuing to invest in the area. “It’s the platform that landed us on our investment trajectory and I believe it will take us to the next level.”
