The National Park Service is hiring a full-time park ranger-interpreter in Calumet. The position is temporary and seasonal, and would begin in May 2012. A park ranger and interpreter's job is to connect people to parks, by engaging the public, helping visitors decide how to spend their time in the park, and informing people about the park and its history. Employment for this job is subject to drug testing, and applicants must be U.S. citizens and be able to submit to background and security checks. Driver's license and the wearing of a park service uniform are required. The ranger's duties include operating the information center, researching topics in order to provide interpretive programs, presenting a variety of formal and informal programs, and learning park resources. There are some physical demands of the job, including standing, walking and carrying for significant lengths of time.
Qualifications:
-U.S. citizenship
- Ability to meet physical demands
- One year of specialized experience in similar position
- Alternately, undergraduate education in related field
- Must pass applicant examination
