North Country Engineering, Inc. of Marquette is hiring a part-time contract surveying technician. The job responsibilities include providing survey functions required to safely support mine engineering, geology and mine operations. It includes field surveying, stockpile surveying, volumetric calculations, creation of maps and drawings, blast hole sampling, use of software including AutoCAD, Excel, Word and Vulcan. The technician must make safety an important aspect of all parts of the job and be able to follow all mine and MSHA rules. MSHA training and safe2work training must be completed prior to mine site access; employer will cover these costs if needed. Hours of the job may range from 24 to more than 40 hours; overtime may be required. Typical work days are Friday, Saturday, Sunday, Monday and holidays. Wage is $19 hourly. Benefits include paid sick days and vacation.
Qualifications:
- Degree in civil engineering technology, surveying technology, or surveying.
- Bachelor of Science or equivalent experience is required
- Working knowledge of surveying principles, techniques and equipment
- Knowledge of computers and software including Excel and AutoCAD
- Ability to communicate clearly, accurately, thoroughly and in a timely manner
- Ability to quickly learn new computer technologies
- Ability to prioritize workload, make decisions and be accountable to high standards
- Ability to negotiate uneven terrain on foot while carrying equipment
- Able to perform shoveling and moderate lifting
- Ability to operate pickup truck around large mining equipment in all weather
- Must have own vehicle and valid driver's license
