Northern Michigan University in Marquette is looking for an associate dean to serve in the school of nursing. It's a full-time job starting in the summer of 2012. The position also includes serving as the director of the school, which offers bachelors and masters programs, and is developing a doctoral program. The associate dean is expected to provide vision and leadership, represent the school within the college and throughout the state, region and nation, and support development and delivery of nursing programs.
Qualifications:
- Doctoral degree in nursing or related field
- Masters in nursing
- 4 to 5 years of higher education teaching experience
- Prior academic administrative experience in a nursing program
- Experience with obtaining and managing external sources of support
- Consistent record of teaching, scholarship and leadership
- Unrestricted Michigan RN license, or eligibility
- Ability to maintain active research in area of expertise
- Ability to represent the department to the administration and public
- Ability to achieve fund-raising goals
- Ability to oversee daily department operations
- Effective communication with faculty, students, administrators and other constituents
- Knowledge of current trends and issues in nursing
- Experience with collective bargaining, budgeting, hiring and scheduling
- Experience with student recruitment
- Experience with curriculum development and accreditation
