Michigan State University Extension is hiring a full-time educator in L'Anse. The position provides leadership and educational programming expertise focusing on entrepreneurial development and community prosperity. Responsibilities include providing leadership and educational programming expertise in alignment with the Sustaining Community Prosperity workgroup in the Extension Greening Michigan Institute (GMI) with a focus as an MSU Product Center Counselor and entrepreneurial development; improving community prosperity and sustainability through business development and entrepreneurship activities; implementing statewide entrepreneurship conference on green economy entrepreneurship and green practices leading to increased profits; developing educational series focused on community-based entrepreneurship, the entrepreneurial mindset, and green economy entrepreneurial opportunities and assist businesses with sustainable decision making; developing articles for publication related to entrepreneurism; working with GMI workgroups to assure commitment to diversity and pluralism at all levels of MSUE/GMI programming; creating and promoting positive public relations for MSUE/GMI at local, district, regional and state levels It's based in Baraga County, but also includes program delivery to nine counties in the western Upper Peninsula. It is annually reappointed on the basis of funds and performance.
Qualifications:
- Master's degree in economics, business, community development or related field
- Three years of experience in extension education or similar position
- Demonstrated leadership abilities
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills
- Technological competence in program delivery, recordkeeping and reporting
