Rio Tinto is searching for a human resources manager to work for the Kennecott Eagle Minerals Company on the Eagle Development Project. The job location is in Ishpeming and will support the team developing a nickel and copper mining project, including an underground mine and surface facilities, as well as a separate mill facility. The HR manager will lead and direct HR work including recruitment, employee relations, performance management, policy development and administration, training and development, benefit administration, and regulatory compliance. The position is part of the project leadership team. Duties include formulating and updating specific HR plans to meet business requirements, leading efforts to adapt employment models to regional and local requirements, developing, updating and integrating HR scheduling, and providing leadership to staffing processes, and controlling the HR budget, among other responsibilities.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in human resources or related field required
- Master's degree preferred
- SPHR qualifications preferred
- 10 years of progressively more responsible experience with HR in mining, energy or heavy industry fields
- At least five years in a leadership position
- Ability to work safely and promote safe work behavior
- Strong generalist experience or specialist experience with a generalist background required
- Core competencies in organization effectiveness, recruitment and selection, labor relations, training and development, and policy and procedure administration
- Demonstrated organizational, planning and conceptual skills with a record of leadership accomplishment
- Strong communication skills, both oral and written, and the ability to speak in public and make effective group presentations
- HRIS experience with SAP preferred
- Working knowledge of MS Office Suite including MS Visio and Project
