Gogebic Community College seeks candidates for the full-time instructional assignment of English Instructor, which begins in August 2010. This is a tenure-track position teaching English and literature. The expected salary is $40,000 to less than $50,000. Duties and responsibilities will include providing course instruction in composition, literature, poetry and creative writing. Other duties include selecting, developing, and revising course materials as necessary, and keeping students informed of course requirements, evaluation measures, and attendance policies. The job also requires posting and maintaining regular office hours, as well as participating in faculty discussions of curriculum, teaching and learning techniques, and teaching materials. Participation in department and college committees is also part of the job description.
Gogebic Community College is a fully accredited, full-service community college with a student population of 1,400. The Ironwood area offers a high quality of life in a rural setting. It is located two hours from Duluth, Minn., four hours from Minneapolis and St. Paul, and four hours from Green Bay, Wisc. The college is close to Lake Superior, the Ottawa National Forest, and numerous other state parks and recreational areas.
Requirements:-- Master's Degree in English or equivalent credits from a U.S. Department of Education regionally accredited college or university
-- Experience teaching English, community-college level preferred, with a broad background in composition, literature, poetry and creative writing

-- Ability to use technology to enhance teaching and learning
