Been wondering about that mole on your arm and if it means something a bit more ominous? Sign up for one of the three free skin cancer screenings that will take place in Hancock, Marquette and Escanaba and worry no more.
Physicians from the
Marquette General Cancer Center will be hosting free screenings in three different locations during the month of May. On May 5, the doctors will be in Marquette doing their screening, which is co-sponsored by the American Academy of Dermatology. The clinic will be in Hancock come May 12 and will be in Escanaba on May 19.
The events are very popular, says Angela Luskin, the community health coordinator at Portage Health in Hancock--the host of the free clinic there.
"Each year Marquette General has partnered with Portage Health to offer this clinic, it has been full," she says. "If you have something that you want looked at, I'd suggest calling early to make sure you reserve a spot."
For Marquette appointments, call 906-225-3500 and call 906-786-2172 to make an appointment for Escanaba. For an appointment in Hancock, call 906-483-1153.
Dr. Milton Soderberg and Dr. Jennifer Baldwin, board certified dermatologists, will do brief examinations of unusual moles or lesions for signs of cancer. The clinics will run from 9 a.m. until 1 p.m.
