Marquette jewelry store
Wattsson and Wattsson Jewelers has a different kind of sale happening this spring, one that not only supports local college education, but also gives NMU grads a chance to give back to the Marquette community.
Co-owner Chris Wattsson announced the store has designed a Northern Michigan University pendant, sales of which will fund a scholarship at the Marquette Alternative High School to help a high school graduate pursue higher education at NMU.
"It's a great chance for me to give back to my school, the Marquette Alternative High School. I'm excited to be able to help them reach their educational goals," says Wattsson, a 2008 MAHS graduate.
The pendant is a revamped version of the popular U.P. gold pendant that Wattsson and Wattsson designed and has sold for the past few years. It is made of 14-karat gold with green enamel, in the NMU colors, and has the initials NMU inside the outline of the U.P. It's been licensed through NMU, and is available both at the jeweler's downtown Marquette store and online.
"You can expect more NMU licensed products in the upcoming year," Wattsson says.
The NMU pendant is $250, with $50 of that going toward the scholarship. NMU students receive a discount with their student ID, as do NMU alumni with an alumni association card.
