There's a new doctor in the halls of
War Memorial Hospital in Sault Ste. Marie and her name is Aisha Mursaleen.
Mursaleen arrived in the region in August and it was immediately clear that she is no stranger to becoming part of a new community. She earned her medical degree on the Caribbean Island of Saba, had internships in Canada, Pakistan and the U.S. and completed her residency at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center. In short, she's quite accomplished at making new friends.
"As a physician, you provide a service to a diverse group of people," says Mursaleen. "My life experiences allow me to have an open mind when approaching new people and I can have a better understanding of their beliefs and their needs."
Mursaleen will spend a portion of her time in an outpatient practice, treating patients with a variety of ailments in need of the multi-system approach of an internist. She has a particular interest in endocrinology and helping patients with diabetes manage their disease. In addition, she is currently building her practice and accepting new patients in need of a primary care doctor.
