MSHDA grants funding for housing in Dickinson County

Dickinson County is one of five Michigan counties that will get funding for home rehabilitation and emergency repair projects.

The funding comes from the Michigan State Housing Development Authority, which awarded a total of $1.175 million from its Housing Resource Fund.

Dickinson County will get $175,000 to rehabilitate seven homes and make emergency repairs to five more homes. Half of the grant will be used countywide, while the other half will be strategically targeted for the greatest neighborhood impact.

"Projects that stem from these grants have great potential to create a positive and sustained community impact," says Scott Woosley, MSHDA executive director. "As the physical condition of housing in each county improves, pride of ownership is restored and nearby homeowners feel empowered to improve their homes and businesses. All of this has a significant ripple effect on the area and its residents."

The other counties receiving funds are: Roscommon County, $175,000; Midland County, $225,000; Grand Traverse County, $300,000; and Ottawa County, $300,000.
